About Me
I'm Julian, an editorial photographer and graphic designer based in Paris.
My approach to photography is rooted in storytelling. I try to create a narrative with each image, often focusing on people, characters, and the human connection. This comes from my background in music, I studied songwriting at Berklee and since I was a kid I have always been interested on storytelling across different mediums, whether through photography, literature, music, or cinema.
Visually I’m inspired by the colors of Monet’s Impressionist paintings and the Black & white photography of the past. I have a particular appreciation for the pioneers of photography and 20th century French photographs such as Robert Doisneau. Their work, and personification of the city of Paris, were the reason I came to Paris. I would like to find out what my Paris photography looks like.
I’m currently working on my first photography book, The Desert Golf, a visual exploration of golf in the Arabian desert. The project looks at the contrast between the traditionally polished image of golf and the stark, Mars-like landscape in which it is played. Through this series, I’m exploring a different visual perspective on the sport, with the landscape become as much a subject as the sport.
If you’re interested in working together, feel free to get in touch.
Julian
